Manchester

Play bass in KOSMONAUTS

Describe yourself in three words?
Clumsy, Friendly, Easy-going

You can make a record with one artist from history, who’s your pick?
Gorillaz after watching Videos/ hearing stories of them recording their record it seems like it’ll be an eye opener to work with them

What do you miss about home when you’re on tour?
We haven’t been on tour yet but I can only imagine home comforts and my dogs.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Best gig I’ve ever been was watching Newton Faulkner at Liverpool university when I was a young lad, my first real inspiration into live performance and music. Still to this day a really impressive live act. To this day I find myself watching his stuff on YouTube, if you have the chance he did a full length performance video of his debut album and it’s class.

What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Inspirations for our sound today have to be Foals as its one of the only band all of us agree with musically. For me personally a musician that always comes to my head when I was younger would be Jack Penate, from a young age I was always obsessed with wanting to play guitar after listening to his songs.

You have one hour to spend with a person from history, who and why?
Bob Marley because he is an inspiration to so many people and was always so humble, I remember seeing a video about him getting the people together in the street and playing football. Within that hour we would 100% be having a kick about.

If you could play with any band, alive or dead, who would you pick?
Again this would be Foals as both their songs and live performance are just something else

We have taken a look behind the scenes and in the ears as to what influences KOSMONAUTS to create a personalised playlist.

The first track you played constantly?
I remember hearing this on the MTV music channel back in my younger days. ‘Feel Good Inc’ by Gorillaz. Whole concept of the band and the music interested me so much I never stopped playing it.

A song that defines the teenage you?
I found teenage me was listening to songs that I would find on TV, especially through the shows which I was watching at the time. As I teenager I watched a large amount of TV and also playing on my consoles (especially FIFA, where the soundtrack was always full of good songs) To find this song I used the date added to Spotify and this was my first song added to my playlist back in 2013. ‘Fot I Hose’ by Casiokids

One song you would keep forever?
‘Buffalo Soldier’ by Bob Marley… is there any more to be said

A song lyric that has inspired you?
Recently a song that lyrics are inspiring to my person life at this moment are ‘Why You Gotta Do it’ by Willie J Healey, especially the lyrics where he sings

‘Money doesn’t solve you problems, but a little bit of cash might help’

because I feel he’s separating the two in the way that money is worth more than cash and throughout the song the idea that money doesn’t make you happy.

A song you wished you had written?
‘Still beating’ by Mac Demarco is such a lovely song and whenever I am feeling a soppy song that’s always the one I’ll go to, just great. Nothing feels like it doesn’t fit as well as there isn’t anything missing.

A guilty pleasure?
Recently my guilty pleasure is ’Juicy’ by Doja Cat always find myself singing along to the song whenever it comes on and its on of the catchiest songs Ive heard in a long time it sticks in your head like glue.

Best song to turn up loud?
Recent time I’ve found every time that the song ‘A Good Thing’ by Ed the Dog comes on my shuffle wherever I am listening to the song this just gets turned up to full volume

A karaoke song?
Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen, there isn’t anyone that won’t help you sing this song when you start.

Last song in your ideal night club?
We Like To Party’ by Vengaboys a song that never fails to get people hyped perfect way to end the night onto the after party.

A new band you’re into at the moment?
A band called ISLAND if you’ve not listened to them you’re missing out. A song that got me hooked on these was ‘A Place You Like’
