Youth Sector, a Brighton based musical breath of fresh air. Describing themselves as being within the Art-Rock genre, you’d expect this band to be very Avant-Garde within their musical creation and that expectation is absolutely met with this latest song ‘A Definitive Guide To Easy Living’.
The track feels something like Funk music meets pop, meets post-punk. It’s extremely confusing to listen to but refreshingly so. Youth Sector have recently been championed on major national radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, Radio 6 and Radio X and are quickly on the rise with a slot at renowned Texas festival SXSW coming up in March.
I think my favourite part of this track, easily, is the guitar. The tone of it, the minimalism and just everything about the way it sits within this track. It gives this track a majorly different feel than what it would be without. That being said, nothing in this track is to be discredited. It very much is the sound of a band who know their sound and go into the studio to deliver it in all their new music.
Within a world of music which can be really hard to stick out in, Youth Sector are making larger than life sonic waves which make them really unique. The lyrical content makes this feel very much like a song made for the people. ‘ A Definitive Guide To Easy Living’ is exactly what it says on the tin, relatable to so many people and delivered in the best way possible.
