This really is beautiful, shimmering indie pop. This track almost feels like a nod to years gone by with its nostalgic sort of sound. It’s somewhere between 80s music and that stereotypical indie pop sound of the 2010s.
The Sheffield based band are really pushing out a brilliant sound and, refreshingly I will add, not a sound that I’d typically come to associate with Sheffield indie. A really nice blend of sounds with some luscious synths in there. One big attraction in this song for me, is the relatable sort of realistic lyricism. There’s just something so inviting about a band who are clear with the message their songs are trying to put across.
Couple all the divine instrumental performances with some really catchy hook lines and a proper belter of a song name and you end up with a track that just comes across as an absolute banger. Work In TV are definitely achieving exactly what they’re aiming for with this latest tune.
It’s not trying too hard to be anything else and not trying too hard to be so individualistic. The sound of this track and this band is one which I imagine they will continue to build upon and continue to establish themselves as a huge up and coming prospect.
