Cumbria-based The Silver Bars are hitting the world with some real nostalgia in their new track ‘Lipstick Colour’. This one does really feel like a classic that I’ve heard before and reminds me of so much great indie music from years gone by.
I’m not quite sure what it is about this track but there’s just something so familiar about it which I really like. The bouncy rhythms and soaring guitar tones are so incredible to listen to, although I do feel the guitar could do with a touch less top end in places as it is a little abrasive at times.
‘Lipstick colour’ on first impression is a classic indie rock tune, however there are elements in the vocals that feel very post-punk-esc. A combination I would never normally have liked to hear together but this vocalist’s voice is absolutely insane.
The only niggling problem in this track is the production of the guitar, which is a shame because I can hear even through the production that there’s a very capable guitar player with a good tone behind it. This is absolutely no criticism of the band themselves.
A real combination of nostalgia and newness. ‘Lipstick Colour’ is definitely a track worth listening to!
