The Fades latest offering is quite possibly the happiest sounding song within the punk genres that I’ve ever heard. The London based band have recently had an abundance of success touring the UK as well as the likes of Italy and more recently the USA!
It would seem that the critical acclaim from national tastemakers has been nothing but good for these boys as this latest track from only their second album ‘Night Terrors’ is a whirlwind of guitar sounds. ‘Drives Me On’ is absolutely jam-packed with some mega chunky sounding, driven guitar tones that are mixed to absolute perfection with that classic punk vocal layered over the top. Not only are those guitars a pure masterpiece but the drum performance here really does have to take a huge amount of credit. Drummer Alastair really does showcase his ability behind a set of drums in this track, not only keeping the band in time but throwing some really lively fills in there at exactly the right points.
Overall, this song is the sound of a band who really understand their sound and themselves musically, a factor which shines through on this record.
