Soulhole, a rhythmically tight, groovy band are releasing their latest banger ‘Pretty Mumma’ and it’s a song for every lover of indie pop in the world.
This is a song I’d love to hear in a live scenario, purely because as a recorded track I do have a couple of problems with it. The track, as great as it is, just feels slightly overproduced. There’s too much reverb on the drums and all the instruments just seem to drown the vocals out a little bit. The vocal parts are still audible but not as much as they should be in a track like this.
Apart from this, the track is written with a real bounce to it, really captivating throughout. I can really imagine this track being a floor filler at any Soulhole gig, the sort of track that crowds would jump up and down to as soon as they hear it.
With the band having influences primarily from blues and funk-rock it’s sort of hard to believe they gain such a sound as they have, it almost seems a little bit pop infused. It’s always great to see how these influences fuse together to make great new music such as what Soulhole are making.
