‘You’, a track about the changes experienced when moving away from home and the effects which it has on relationships. The latest track from Indie Rock band Luna Bay is yet another huge tune in their discography.
After releasing their first EP back in 2019 and gaining the support of highly coveted national tastemakers such as Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1) and John Kennedy (Radio X) the band have gone on to play hugely successful shows around the UK along with a sold out headline at London’s Scala. These lads definitely know their way around a mega catchy indie rock banger. This one is like rock music which has been written with the understanding of a pop musician. Luna Bay have easily released one of the bangers of the year so far with this one. Insanely catchy.
The music is expertly written, performed and executed and is complimented by some great lyricism and a great hook which gets stuck in your head right from the first spin of this tune. Like every great hook, this one doesn’t just grab you with melody. The lads have played with the rhythms of the track and managed to make the rhythm of the vocal just as catchy as the melodic structure. There’s just an unreal amount of musical understanding that has so obviously gone into this track, something which you just have to appreciate as a listener.
Having seen their fair share of success already on past releases I’d back these boys for some huge things given their ability to write a song as good as this. Honestly, I can fully imagine myself sweating and getting trampled on in the front pit of a major music festival to the sound of this song. It just has the vibe of a timeless classic. Probably one I’ll keep listening to for years to come myself after having heard it!
