Hotel Mira’s latest single, ‘The View From The Bar Stool’, is a prime example of the band’s incredible ability to write alt-pop hits infused with raw, introspective lyricism. Following successful UK performances and SXSW showcases, the Canadian quarter continue to excel with the compelling storytelling and versatility.
Frontman Chralie Kerr, uses this theatrical flair to weave a narrative exploring the psyche’s impact of public scrutiny, he states, “I think the notion that someone would be wholly unaffected by being a (even mildly) public figure is absurd. There is a psychic damage or at least shift to knowing that what you are going to say and do will be analysed and consumed and that you have very little control in the matter. So, I suppose what ‘The View From The Barstool’ is articulating is that I recognise a change in me. I feel less insane acknowledging I am sensitive to being treated differently”.
‘The View From The Bar Stool’ shows Hotel Mira’s growing prowess and is followed up with their ‘I Am Not Much Help’ EP, which is a must-listen if you’re new to discovering this band.
