From the very outset of Star Cross’d, the latest single from Fast Money Music, there’s a feel of a ready made banger of a pop song.
Everything is so perfectly in place in this track which has clearly been created by musicians who are right at the peak of their talents.
After successful collaborations with the likes of Mikko Gordon (Arcade Fire, Gaz Coombes) and George Daniels (The 1975) on his last EP, Fast Money Music, hailing from San Francisco, set out on this latest release. An absolute banger.
I’m not a huge fan of where everything sits in this track, I feel the guitars could maybe go further back as they are too close in level to the vocal currently.
I’m a huge fan however of how crisp those cymbals sound on the drums, from the hi-hats to the big cymbals in the chorus. I’d like to hear these drums a little further forward in the mix, maybe above the guitars.
Overall, a huge amount of talent on display here, with previous success behind him and huge prospects ahead Fast Money Music is quickly on the rise.
