Dakota Avenue, a name I’ve heard a lot of recently but not a band I’ve actually checked out until this release. And my word do I regret that, this is absolutely unreal!
From musical performance through to the production, from the lyrics to the writing of the song itself, this track has everything that any Alt-rock banger should have and more.
There just seems to be limitless things in this track to impress the ears. I can fully imagine myself walking down the street and bopping my head carelessly to this. ‘Skin’ feels like a track that wouldn’t just fill rooms but I can genuinely imagine hearing in an arena sized venue. It’s simply that great.
Perhaps my favourite part of this whole track is those massive drums. The track ties together so well in every aspect but the drums do really feel like the glue for it all. Metronomic as any drummer should be and almost beautifully violent in delivery. Insane.
Dakota Avenue, a band who have gained great radio play with national tastemakers are currently in the process of releasing an EP, containing this track and I’m actually quite excited to hear the collection of songs in full. If this is anything to go by then I’d tip this band to do some great things in the near future. Keep your eyes out for Dakota Avenue!
