Indie-pop thoroughbreds Barstaff are back with ‘iZZY’, a brisk new track to start their year.
‘iZZY’s sound weaves in and out of vocals from Ciara Hanley and Ben Ash who describe memories of returning home and the possibility of a life far removed from the comforts of familiarity. The guitars on this track are bright and airy and echo the synth arpeggios which splash gently in the background.
Describing the track’s tone, Hanley said: “[iZZY] is all about inner conflict”. The bassline is exceptionally solid and keeps in razor sharp timing with a snappy drumbeat.
Barstaff kick off 2025 with a new image but look to retain the indie-pop sound they have developed in the two years they have been together. The group have a sold-out show on February 22nd, at Liverpool’s historic Jacaranda as well as a YES basement headliner in June.
