The decision has finally been made by Kendal Calling to follow the same route as many other festivals and have cancelled this years event. This would have been the fifteenth year the festival would have been in the Lake District, with thousands of old and new guests attending.
Kendal Calling made the announcement in a video posted on their social media, voiced by legendary DJ and Inspiral Carpets star Clint Boon; who has a much loved DJ set at the festival each year. The video shows clips of the festival from previous year and all the fun that usually had there.
As expected Kendal Calling has said “It was not an easy decision but it is the right decision. Your health and the health of those who work behind the scenes and on the stages is and will always be paramount.” As the government put in place steps to ease out of lockdown, and hopefully get everything back to some sort normality, it is clear that mass gatherings like this will need to be cancelled.
Kendal Calling have announced dates for next years festival, which will be running from the 29th July – 1st August, giving us all something to look forward to. Ticket buyers will receive further details via email imminently from their place of purchase regarding the refund options. If you don’t want a refund, then you will have the option to keep your ticket for next year. By doing this you will be supporting Kendal Calling at this difficult time and giving them every chance of making next years festival even better.
Kendal Calling is one of our favourite festivals, and we have attended for the past few years and met so many great people and bands there. We can wait to see what 2021 brings for the festival and they will be announcing the lineup for their “15th (again!) birthday celebration” in the coming weeks. A phrase that attached to every Kendal Calling message since they first signed off a Facebook post with it in 2008, and seems even more important now… “See you in the fields”
