If you’re looking for soulful vocals and infectious guitar riffs then look no further than Freeda. The Mossley band have been slowly making their inroad into Manchester’s heart and after their recent headline show at Aatma they may have just achieved that. Latest single ‘Plug It In’ has put them on a pedestal above the crowd and people are starting to notice them.

Who are Freeda?
Freeda are made up of Sean (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar), Callum (Lead Guitar), Cameron (Guitar), Adam Barton (Bass) and Adam Jackson (Drums).

What are Freeda?
In simple terms we’re an Indie-Rock band formed in early 2017. We’ve been described as everything from the love child of Miles Kane and Catfish and the Bottlemen to ‘Hendrixsian’ and Screamin-Jay-Hawkins–esque due to our 60’s influences.

Where are Freeda?
The small northern town of Mossley; a hub for creativity resting in the foothills of the Pennines, just a stone’s-throw from Manchester. Probably best known for producing England’s first chippy.

How did you meet?
Myself (Callum), the two Adams and Cam have been in bands since we were in high school and we met Sean at college. We used to play football together before we started the band. When we realised we were rubbish at that we decided to focus on music instead.

Explain your live show
We don’t want to just put on mediocre gigs, we want people to come down and feel like they’ve been part of something. The last few shows at Band on The Wall, Manchester Academy 3 and Aatma have been quality. You can probably expect some suspect dancing from Sean, a couple of hairy chests and a decent amount of homoerotic tension between the rhythm section.

What can we expect from 2018?
We’re heading into the studio in April to record our second single and playing a headline gig at Soup Kitchen in June. Between that there are a few festival dates which we are going to be announcing very soon!

Where can we find your music?
Our first single ‘Plug It In’ is available on Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud.

You can find Freeda on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and they headline The Soup Kitchen on the 9th of June.
