John Zdrojeski releases ‘Nor’easter I‘, the first in a trilogy if EP’s set to be released over the next year and a half whilst he’s doing The Great Gatsby on Broadway.
‘Nor’easter I‘ is the bridging piece between Zdrojeski’s rock inspired 2022 album ‘Misters‘ and the folk elements of his 2019 EP ‘Primitive‘. The EP has a strong foundation of rock influences, evocative of the ’80s heartland rock era, whilst still allowing the deeply personal lyrics to truly shine. This EP was a way for John Zdrojeski to deal with grief in the wake of his mother’s death in 2022. It’s a strong sense of finding himself both aurally and spiritually through the lyrics and the instrumentation throughout the EP.
Zdrojeski’s choice to title the EP ‘Nor’easter I‘ is a nod to both his Northeast roots and the metaphorical storm of his mother’s death. This duality is reflected in the music, which feels both intensely personal and universally relatable. ‘Nor’easter I‘ is a powerful introduction to the trilogy, offering a heartfelt exploration of loss, memory, and the search for self.
