Liverpool’s psychedelic-infused pop outfit Honey Motel have released their highly anticipated EP, ‘The Manatee‘. The band have built an impressive fan base with their infectious sound and notoriety for their energetic live performances.
‘The Manatee‘ showcases the band’s eclectic style with dreamy guitar riffs, smooth bass lines and dynamic drum patterns, drawing influence from artists like Mac Demarco and Wallows. Tracks like ‘When We die, We Die’ and ‘The Matinee’ show the bands intricate styling and narrative, infused with a touch of scouse wit, making them a highlight for fans of indie pop and alt-rock.
“If anybody tells you they know exactly what they are doing in this life, they are lying,” explains the band’s Guitarist/Songwriter Sam Meredith, “Nobody knows the meaning of all this. Not a soul. If they claim they do, then they are deluded. As you get into your twenties all those who you think have it figured out really don’t, and those who seem really lost aren’t that lost at all. How can you know what you’re doing if you truly don’t know the point of it all? But at the same time, how can you be lost if you don’t know why you’re here? Just relax, some of the most interesting people I’ve met don’t know what they are meant to be doing in this life.”
Comprising Matt Walker (vocals and guitar), Sam Meredith (guitar), Jack Hughes (bass), and Lew Fogg (drums), Honey Motel delivers a cohesive sound that is both familiar and refreshingly innovative. Their influences, including The Backseat Lovers and Declan McKenna, shine through in their infectious and distinctive sound.
