Kingfishr’s ‘Live From Dublin‘ album brilliantly captures the raw and emotive energy of their sold-out show at The Olympia Theatre on 21st March 2024. The album was recorded during the first of two landmark performances from the Irish folk trio.
“The Olympia Theatre was the venue we targeted from day one, it’s iconic in Ireland and for any Irish artist it’s the dream. Whether it took us 2 years or 20, we wanted to headline it and when that opportunity arose in little over a year it was hard to believe. Those gigs were so important to us and we needed something to remember them, something we could look at and be proud of how far we had come. The idea to record them for a live album came from that sentiment, it’s a landmark moment in this journey we’re on and we’re really excited to be able to share that with everyone.” stated the band.
From the first notes of ‘Heart In The Water’ you can feel the anticipation and excitement in the room as fans watched Kingfishr take to the stage. Eddie’s vocals, accompanied by McGoo’s banjo melodies and Fitz’s bass lines, weave a tapestry of sound that is both intimate and grandiose. The live setting amplifies the band’s incredible sound and allows you to feel the personal and intimate nature of their shows.
What makes ‘Live From Dublin‘ truly special, is sense of the occasion and achievement that is felt with each track. The band’s commentary on how significant it was for them to be playing at The Olympia Theatre adds another layer of depth the listening experience, reminding us that this album is a milestone in Kingfishr’s journey that has been documented. The recording captures the band at a pivotal moment on their rapid growth and allows listeners to share in the triumph.
As Kingfishr continue their festival season and build up to their biggest UK and Ireland headline tour to date, ‘Live From Dublin’ is a reminder of where the band have come from and will be a benchmark for the band’s success.
