As Laura Marling gets us ready for her sixth studio album, she has released second single, ‘Wild Fire’.

Marling, who is known for her stripped back, cool sound, has continued the trend with this latest release, as it brings in some likeness to The Beautiful South.

The album is called, Semper Femina, and it will be released on the 10th March.

Though the track, ‘Wild Fire’, is more solid in its melodies, it is on a completely different wavelength to the lead single, ‘Soothing’, which sounds more like an acoustic St Vincent than it does a Marling song.

But it is this change in sound, and clear admiration for country and soul, that shows the versatile works of Marling, and indeed the reason as to why she is one of the best.

Marling has also announced a tour in support of Semper Femina, which will see her stop off at Manchester, London… And Salisbury (?), you can see the dates below:

8th March – O2 Academy, Leeds
9th March – Colston Hall, Bristol
10th March – O2 ABC, Glasgow
12th March – Albert Hall, Manchester SOLD OUT
13th March – O2 Academy, Oxford
14th March – Institute, Birmingham
16th March – Dome, Brighton
17th March – Roundhouse, London SOLD OUT
18th March – City Hall, Salisbury
21st March – Roundhouse, London NEW DATE

‘Wild Fire’ has been a staple in Marling’s set, featuring heavily in her set during her latest, small, autumnal tour, in which she banned mobile phones and recording devices, it also saw her do a three night residency at Martyr’s in Chicago.

The earlier release, ‘Soothing’, saw Marling’s directorial debut, which is noticeably similar to that of Wes Anderson’s use of wax colours in a clear filterless aesthetic.
